Steamboat Springs Evangelical Free Church

Our church meets for worship on 9:30 on Sunday mornings at the Christian Heritage School.  Our worship is simple and informal but above all it is centered on Christ, blending a mix of traditional hymns and contemporary songs.  We would love to have you join us whether you are new in town or are just visiting.  We welcome you to come and enjoy our fellowship with the Lord and one another.

We believe in Sola Scriptura, or Scripture alone.  This means that everything we believe and teach comes from the Bible as the Word of God revealed to mankind.  Sermons are always derived from the text of Scripture and are a vital part of our worship.  The current sermon series is from the book of Hosea, a very relevant Word to the church of God today.

There is a theme to the book of Hosea, and it is that God's people are notoriously unfaithful to their God in spite of all that He has done for them and has promised to them.  There is a harmonizing theme as well, and it is that in spite of our great unfaithfulness, God will never abandon His love for those He has chosen to be His bride.

What does it mean to live in 'the knowledge of God?'  When God said through Hosea that He had a controversy with His people, it was this complaint: there was no knowledge of God in the land.  So is it primarily intellectual, knowing that He exists and knowing the facts about Him?  Is this how we live according to the knowledge of God today?  Surely there is an intellectual grasp of the truth of God involved in how we live, but there is so much more.  It is possible to live knowing and even believing that God is there, but acting all the while as if He doesn't really exist.

And if all you had was God, would that be enough?  To know God is to have a personal relationship of love with Him, walking after Him in all His ways and being content with that.

Does the way that you live fit with your knowledge of His love for you?  You can listen to the sermons from June 14 and June 21 by clicking on the Sermons Online link above and then clicking again on the message, Living in the Knowledge of God, Part 1, from Hosea 4.1-3, at the bottom of the page.  Living in the Knowledge of God, Part 2, from Hosea 4.4-10, is also available there.

The purpose of our church
is to glorify God
through loving relationships with God,
one another and the people of our community.

Upcoming on the Lords Day, June 28

Pastor Geldmeier continues in his series of messages from the book of Hosea on living in the knowedge of God and His love for us.  We welcome you to join us for this timely Word for today.

In our Discipleship we continue in the series from John Piper on Seeing and Savoring Christ.

No, Mr. President, what you have to say about abortion is not "fair minded speech," whatever that is.  No, Mr. President, your speech condones the murder of innocents while it coddles the consciences of their killers.
Go to
See What You Think above on the menu bar to hear the truth spoken about our president and abortion.  Dr. Piper's comments are far more fair to the unborn than anything that has come so far from the mouth of Barack Obama.
